TUNE INTO THE ABOVE SITES for a mix of old and next generation Bluegrass Music, information and informative interviews from Steve and the Unreal Bluegrass show.

May 25th thru May 31st:

RUN BOY RUN

MATT ROLLAND

Existing comfortably in the tension between tradition and the musical frontier, Tucson five piece band Run Boy Run truly exceeds the sum of its parts as touches of classical and jazz blend with bluegrass, folk and old timey to result in their unique sound. Their new album, Something to Someone, released October 28th on Sky Island Records, allows Run Boy Run's multi-voiced and multi-stringed arrangements to shine. Strong vocals from three female voices, singing separately or in harmony and deeply rooted in familial connection to traditional American music, weave a tapestry of sound and the award-winning fiddlers cut a path for a tightly formed rhythmic front. Every arrangement is - at its core- captivating!

Pickin' in the Pines contest winners (mere weeks afer forming in 2009) and Telluride Bluegrass Festival Band contest winner in 2012, plus two appearances on NPR's A Prairie Home Companion (host Garrison Keillor penned the liner notes to the band's debut album), resulted in being tagged as "One of the top 10 Arizona bands to hear now!"

Join Steve as he chats with Matt Rolland, fiddle/guitar player in the band, about the band members, how they formed this unique combination of string instruments,    (see photo above) and the influences that have produced this newly recognized group of very talented musicians.
